U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a harsh message to Iran in a statement posted on the social media platform Truth Social. Trump said that if no agreement is reached, they will target Iran’s energy infrastructure.
Trump stated that the United States is holding talks with what he described as a new and “more reasonable” administration in Iran to bring military operations to an end.
Saying that significant progress had been made in the talks, Trump noted that reaching an agreement in the near future was likely.
The U.S. president stressed that if no agreement is reached and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened immediately, military operations will intensify.
Trump said that in such a case, power generation facilities, oil fields, and Khark Island in Iran would be targeted. He also stated that seawater desalination plants could be hit as well.
In his statement, Trump also referred to past attacks on U.S. soldiers, saying that any possible operation would be in the nature of “retaliation.”
