The Super Bowl, the championship game of the National Football League (NFL) watched by hundreds of millions of people worldwide and increasingly resembling a festival rather than a sporting event, was overshadowed this year by criticism from Donald Trump.
“IT DOES NOT REFLECT AMERICAN VALUES”
Reacting to the pre-game and halftime performances featuring Green Day and Bad Bunny at the 60th edition of the Super Bowl, Trump argued that the show failed to reflect American values.
“The Super Bowl halftime show was absolutely terrible, one of the worst ever. It was an insult to America’s greatness,” the U.S. president said.
In a statement shared on social media, Trump also targeted NFL executives and organizers, repeating his criticism by calling the halftime show “absolutely terrible.”
“THE DANCES WERE AWFUL”
Claiming that “no one understood” the songs performed by Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, Trump said:
“The dances were disgusting, especially for young children watching from across the United States and around the world. This show was nothing more than a slap in the face to our country, which is breaking new records every day.”
