Despite the recent financial ups and downs associated with company news, XPeng Motors is looking to expand the global footprint of existing electric vehicles. According to the statement made by the chairman of the Chinese automaker, XPeng will start selling in three new markets in Europe starting next year.
XPeng’s entry into Europe began in Norway with the P7 sedan, with first deliveries in summer 2021. Shortly after, it became known that the automaker was also planning to send the G9 SUV abroad.
By February 2022, XPeng had secured retail deals in new markets such as the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark, with the aim of increasing brand awareness and understanding each market’s customer needs before official sales.
Since then, we’ve seen the 2023 P7 refresh joining the G9 in these European markets, with sales starting earlier this year. With a network of service centers in place in these regions, XPeng vice president and president Brian Gu promised further expansion.
During IAA Mobility in Munich, it was also learned which new markets XPeng Motors is targeting next.
GERMANY, FRANCE, ENGLAND
According to Brian Gu’s statement to journalists at IAA Mobility, XPeng plans to expand into the German, French and UK markets in 2024. These entries will start with the G6, the automaker’s latest model to reach production, along with the aforementioned G9 SUV and P7 sedan.
Gu also shared that the G6 will launch specifically in the UK as the automaker’s first right-hand drive EV.
With three new regions on the entry list, XPeng aims to compete more in Europe and continue to increase brand awareness.
