FLOOD DISASTER IN LIBYA
Osman Abdulcelil, the “Minister of Health of the government” in the east of Libya, announced that the number of deaths in the flood disaster in the east of the country exceeded 3 thousand.
Prime Minister of the National Unity Government in Libya, Abdulhamid Dibeybe, also announced that 3 days of mourning were declared for those who lost their lives in the flood disaster.
The Libyan Presidential Council called for assistance from sister countries and international institutions for the regions damaged by the flood.
The National Unity Government held an extraordinary cabinet meeting yesterday and made a series of decisions, including providing aid to the disaster-affected areas.
It was stated that the amount of rainfall in the eastern regions of the country was the highest recorded in more than 40 years.
The “Daniel” storm, which was effective in the Central Mediterranean, affected the Libyan cities of Benghazi, Beyda, Merc, Suse and Derna.
